For each uploaded image, WordPress lets you enter a caption to describe the file. This is very cool, but sometimes you don’t need captions at all. Here is how you can get rid of it.

Simply paste the following lines of code in your functions.php file, and you’re done!

function caption_off() {
    return true;

add_filter( 'disable_captions', 'caption_off' );

I think WordPress is fantastic, but when you are using it as a content management system for clients – it’s incredible how they can mess up the template and find new ways to make things difficult. I do video tutorials and show them how to create new posts – one point of contention was this caption problem – which you have solved! It’s going in all my templates from now on.
